I am Kevin’s one and only little sister, 10 years younger than him. I never really knew there extent of his battle with depression but I always felt he understood my own struggles more than most people did. I didn’t really talk to anyone about it throughout high school because it’s so easy to think you’re alone and no one understands. Kevin would go out of his way to tell me he was proud of me and he always would be as long as I was happy. He seemed like he knew how I felt without having to say anything and he made sure I knew he loved me and he thought I was enough. My brother was my best friend and my hero and I got a tattoo in his honor, covering a few old scars on my wrist. I’m a better, happier person because of the time he was in my life and the place he holds in my heart and I fight for him now. I still struggle with depression sometimes but with a strong support system, opening up and talking about problems and honestly just wanting to keep my brother proud, I get through it. Step by step, day by day
